This webcam FPS test measures actual delivered camera frames over a five-second sample instead of relying only on the frame-rate number reported by the MediaStream track. The result shows both values side by side so you can tell whether a camera negotiated a high frame rate but delivered fewer visible frames during the sample.
Reported FPS versus measured FPS
The reported value comes from the browser's active camera track settings. The measured value is calculated from frames that reach the video element during the sampling window. A small difference is normal, while a large difference can indicate low-light exposure, camera limitations, browser throttling or heavy device load. The dropped-frame figure is an estimate based on the negotiated rate and measured frame count.
Use FPS together with camera resolution
High resolution and high frame rate compete for camera, USB and processing resources. A webcam may support 1080p at 30 FPS but a lower resolution at 60 FPS. Use the camera resolution test to probe common capture sizes, and use the standard webcam test when you only need a fast live preview and current camera settings.

How does this webcam FPS test measure frame rate?
The tool counts delivered video frames over a five-second sampling window, using the browser video-frame callback when available and a rendering fallback otherwise.
Why is measured FPS lower than the reported FPS?
The track setting is the negotiated frame-rate target, while delivered frames can fall because of low light, exposure time, browser throttling, camera hardware or system load.
Is this an Internet video-call FPS test?
No. It measures local camera delivery in the browser. Network congestion, encoder behavior and a remote WebRTC connection can reduce received video frame rate separately.
