This camera resolution test probes common webcam capture sizes sequentially so you can see which exact modes the browser and camera accept. The test starts at lower resolutions and moves through 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K. Every probe opens only one camera stream at a time and releases the track before the next resolution is tested.
Supported, rejected and negotiated modes
A supported result means the browser returned the requested width and height for that exact probe. A constraint-rejected result means the requested capture mode could not be opened with the exact dimensions. If a browser returns a different capture mode, the result is shown separately rather than treating the negotiated size as the requested one.
Resolution is only one part of webcam quality
A higher resolution does not automatically mean a better video-call experience. Frame rate, lighting, autofocus, exposure, USB bandwidth and encoding can all change visible quality. Why can a camera negotiate a different resolution?
Browsers may choose a supported mode that differs from an ideal request. This tool distinguishes an exact constraint rejection from a result where the browser returns another capture size.
