What the webcam test checks
This webcam test opens your selected camera through the browser and displays a live local preview. It reads the negotiated capture settings reported by the active video track, including the device label, video resolution, frame rate and facing mode. This is useful before a meeting, interview, livestream or any browser-based WebRTC call.
Why the detected resolution may be lower than expected
The browser negotiates a capture mode supported by the camera, operating system and current device state. Another application using the webcam, driver limits or browser constraints can result in a lower resolution or frame rate than the camera's advertised maximum.
Camera permission and privacy
Your browser must grant camera permission before the preview can start. The current tool displays the MediaStream locally and does not upload or record your video. If the camera cannot start, verify browser site permissions and operating-system camera access, then run the test again.

Does this webcam test record my video?
No. The current webcam tool shows a local browser preview and reads MediaStream settings. It does not record or upload the video stream.
Why is my camera black or unavailable?
The browser may not have permission, another application may be using the camera, the device may be disabled, or the page may not be running in a secure context.
Can this test show my webcam FPS?
It displays the frame rate reported by the active video track. A future dedicated FPS test can also measure delivered frames over time.
